Marcus inherited a set of Gon Bop congas from his father in September 1994. In the summer of 1996 he took lessons from famed percussionist Michael Nieland from Denver, Colorado. After that, his musical career took off. Marcus now leads community and corporate drum circles, does studio session recordings, provides soulful and soothing background music for private parties, spoken word events, and health/dance classes. He plays in several diverse bands which play Latin, African, funk, Brazilian, reggae, beach, coastal soul, and pop music.
Marcus Tucker, also known as the conga man, is a native Southern Californian and is widely considered a percussionist extraordinaire. While his main instruments are congas and djembes, he plays the entire spectrum of percussion instruments.
